ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS to support for the publishing activities of doctoral students of the Doctoral School at the University of Silesia in Katowice and the International Environmental Doctoral School at the Centre for Polar Studies – costs of Article Processing Charges/Open Access
The project coordinator announces a call for applications for the task: Support for the publishing activities of doctoral students of the Doctoral School at the University of Silesia in Katowice and the International Environmental Doctoral School associated with the Centre for Polar Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice – costs Article Processing Charges/Open Access
Description of the activity for which funding can be applied for
Individual activities involving the publication of a scientific article in a recognized journal in such a form that it is available in Open Access.
Funding will be provided for the costs of publishing a scientific article in a specialist journal, of which the doctoral student is the first or the only only author (a declaration in this matter should be included in the substantive attachment, the link to which is provided below). In the case of publications in which the order of authors is established alphabetically, an additional declaration signed by all co-authors must be provided, confirming the leading/greatest authorial contribution of the PhD student to the publication.
The call covers activities for which financing will be completed by 30.06.2025.
The financing procedure will be carried out in accordance with the principles of financing the costs of publications in specialist journals in force at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
The project coordinator reserves the right to decide on the final amount of financing. The maximum amount of financing will not exceed PLN 12,000.
THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 13.11.2024 TO 22.11.2024
The support can be used by a person who meets all of the following requirements:
- He/She has the status of a PhD student at the University of Silesia in Katowice,
- He/She conducts research to support the transformation process, in particular with the directions of the green and digital economy,
- Within the set deadline, hesh will hand over in person, by traditional mail or intra-university mail to the Project Office (Rector’s Office Building, Bankowa 12, room 2.7) a set of original documents (incomplete documents will not be considered).

NOTE: Appendix no. 11 must be confirmed by the Doctoral School. In the case of PhD students of Polish Academy of Science, the verification of the number of publications is undertaken by the appropriate Polish Academy of Science unit.
Recruitment will take place on the basis of the Regulations of recruitment and participation in the project „U.S. transition – The potential of the University of Silesia as the basis for the Just Transition of the region” – Ordinance No. 95/2024 of the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice of 19 June 2024.
In the case when the same number of point will be given, the order of applications is decisive.
